USC Men’s Golf Returns to the NCAA Championships
May 28, 2026 | Men's Golf
The Trojans are making their 59th all-time NCAA Championships appearance and their first since 2019.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — Making its first NCAA Championships appearance since 2019, the USC Men's Golf Team heads south to square off with the nation's best teams at the national championships, held at The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, located in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 29-June 3.
For the third consecutive year, the national championships will be played at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa at the par-72, 7,538-yard course. USC is making its 59th all-time NCAA Championships appearance and its first under Head Coach Mark Hankins, who has guided a team with talented underclassmen and proven veterans to four wins this season.
The 30 teams and six individual qualifiers will play 18 holes of stroke play every day from May 29-31 before the first cut is made. Then the top 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will play 18 more holes of stroke play on June 1 to determine the national individual champion and the top eight teams for match play.
From there, the final eight teams will play the match play quarterfinals and semifinals on June 2, before the national championship match will be held on June 3.
The first three days will be livestreamed exclusively via Babygrande Golf. The GOLF Channel will provide live coverage for the final round of stroke play, plus all three rounds of match play. All pertinent links can be found on ncaa.com or the men's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
Led by star sophomores Jaden Dumdumaya and Jack Buchanan, the Trojans are peaking at the right time heading into NCAAs. The Trojans have won two of their last four events and have placed no lower than fifth in that span. USC punched its ticket to NCAAs by placing fourth at the Winston-Salem Regional, which saw the Trojans fire a season-best 268 (-16) — which tied the fifth-lowest round in program history — in the final round. Several players either set or matched their best career performances at the Winston-Salem Regional. Junior Nicolas Dominguez tied his best tournament score with a 206, while freshman Raghav Gulati subbed in on the final round and fired a collegiate-best 66 (-5).
USC's best finish at the national championships was in 2015, when the Trojans fell to LSU 4-1 in the national title match. The Trojans have made match play four times since the match play format was adopted in 2009. Individually, the Trojans boast four national champions, which rank sixth among Division I schools: Scott Simpson (1976 and 1977), Ron Commans (1981) and Jamie Lovemark (2007).

HEAR FROM THE LINEUP:
Sophomore Jack Buchanan: "We know that we can make it in the match play portion of it, but in order to get there, we've just got to hit fairways, hit greens and just play decent golf. A lot of other teams are at a disadvantage coming in from the East Coast for the national championships, so it definitely benefits us slightly that the course is somewhat similar to a couple of our home courses. We know that it's going to be tough, but we have to try and manage that as well as we can."
Junior Nicolas Dominguez: "I think tee shots are really important on this course and hitting greens. There's going to be some tucked pins. The greens are about 2-3 meters above the ground, so you just gotta put it on the green."
Freshman Raghav Gulati: "At regionals, we knew where we were to start the day and what we kind of needed to do to qualify. But it was good to put a good round together and finally see some stuff working. I just trusted my putter and it worked out well for me. It feels great to be at NCAAs for the first time in seven years. It's been a good season so far, but we're all excited to see how we can fare against the best in the country."
Sophomore Jaden Dumdumaya: "It's been a great journey. This team is something that I'm glad to be a part of and grateful to be here with this great program with Coach Hankins and everybody else on the team. Making NCAAs is something that I've looked forward to ever since I committed to USC. Having team wins and experiencing some good finishes with not just myself, but other people on the team is something that I'm very grateful to be a part of. This season's been amazing. It's definitely one for the history books and something I'll remember for the rest of my life."
Senior Antonio Safa: "I'm very happy that my last college tournament will be my first national championship. It's what we work for the whole year, and just to be out here in my last event is amazing. Being here with Coach Hankins is special to me. He gave me the opportunity to play college golf at Missouri and then, after bringing me over to USC, it's been one heck of a ride with him. He's someone who's very important to me and has helped develop my golf game to the next level. I owe him a lot, so it's been great."
