USC Men’s Basketball Signs Isaac Bruns
May 20, 2026 | Men's Basketball
Bruns averaged 20.8 points at South Dakota during his junior season
LOS ANGELES – The USC men's basketball team signed transfer guard Isaac Bruns (North Sioux City, S.D./Dakota Valley HS) for the upcoming 2026-27 season, head coach Eric Musselman announced on Monday, May 20.
"We are excited to welcome Isaac Bruns to the Trojan Family," Musselman said. "Isaac is a proven offensive talent who brings tremendous versatility to our program as a true three-level scorer. He can impact the game from beyond the arc, in the mid-range, and at the rim, while also putting constant pressure on defenses with his ability to get to the free-throw line at a high rate. Isaac fits the style we want to play offensively because of his scoring instincts, aggressiveness, and ability to create offense in a variety of ways. His skill set and competitive approach will make him an exciting addition to our program."
Bruns comes to USC from South Dakota where he played three seasons for the Coyotes. As a junior, the 6-5 guard averaged 20.8 points and 5.1 rebounds through 20 games before being sidelined due to injury. He reached double figures in all 20 games and scored a career-high 29 points against Prairie View A&M. Bruns was named the Summit League's Scholar of the Championship and was selected to the Summit League Academic All-League Team with a 4.0 GPA.
As a sophomore, Bruns earned All-Summit League honorable mention honors and played in all 33 games with 16 starts. He was second on the team in scoring (14.6 ppg) and finished in double figures 28 times to total 482 points. As a freshman, Bruns came off the bench and saw action in all 32 games. He averaged 14.1 minutes, 6.3 points, and 1.7 rebounds per game.
Before his time in Vermillion, Bruns was the South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year. The three-time first team all-state honoree guided Dakota Valley to two state championships.
Bruns is the sixth transfer added to the Trojans' 2026-27 roster and joins Eric Reibe, Joshua Hughes, Jalen Cox, KJ Lewis, and Aaron Hunkin-Claytor. The transfer group joins returners Rodney Rice, Jacob Cofie, and Alijah Arenas, and incoming freshmen Adonis Ratliff, Darius Ratliff, and Christian Collins.
