USC's JuJu Watkins Selected to USA Basketball Women’s April National Team Training Camp Roster
March 31, 2026 | Women's Basketball
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — JuJu Watkins has been selected to participate in the upcoming USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp, set for April 1–3 in Phoenix, as announced today by USA Basketball.
Watkins returns to the national team pool after previously attending the program's December 2025 training camp, continuing to solidify her place among the nation's elite talent despite a season-ending injury in the 2025 NCAA Second Round.
Even with her season cut short, Watkins delivered one of the most dominant campaigns in the country, sweeping major national honors including the Naismith Trophy, Associated Press Player of the Year and USBWA National Player of the Year. She also claimed Big Ten Player of the Year and the Wooden Award while leading USC with elite production across the board.
Against top 10 opponents, Watkins averaged 26.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, consistently rising to the moment in marquee matchups. Her season was highlighted by a historic performance in USC's win over No. 1 UCLA, when she recorded 38 points, 11 rebounds, eight blocks and five assists, a stat line unmatched across Division I, WNBA or NBA competition since 2000.
Watkins brings extensive international experience to the camp, having won gold with Team USA at the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. In 2022, Watkins was named the MVP of the FIBA U17 World Cup.
2025-28 USA Basketball Women's National Team head coach Kara Lawson (Duke University) will lead training camp. She will be assisted by court coaches Niele Ivey (Notre Dame), Natalie Nakase (Golden State Valkyries), Shea Ralph (Vanderbilt University), Nate Tibbetts (Phoenix Mercury) and Stephanie White (Indiana Fever).
USA Women's National Team managing director Sue Bird will evaluate players prior to naming a team for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, which will take place from Sept. 4-13, 2026, in Berlin. The USA will seek their fifth consecutive World Cup gold medal.
