Trojans eye season sweep of UCLA after beating the Bruins less than a month ago.
LOS ANGELES - No. 25 USC men's tennis will travel to No. 26 UCLA on Friday, March 13 for another chapter in the storied crosstown rivalry. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.Â
Troy enters the matchup ranked No. 25 with a 10-3 overall record and plenty of momentum, riding a six-match winning streak. The Trojans most recently edged No. 46 Indiana in a 4-3 decision, continuing a stretch of tight victories that has helped fuel their recent surge.
UCLA, ranked No. 26, is coming off a convincing 6-1 win over Purdue and features several nationally ranked players in its lineup. The Bruins boast three ranked singles competitors in No. 35 Emon van Loben Sels, No. 57 Spencer Johnson and No. 104 Rudy Quan, along with two ranked doubles pairs: Johnson and van Loben Sels at No. 35 and Quan with Aadarsh Tripathi at No. 40.
The last meeting between the two programs came in February at Marks Tennis Stadium, where USC captured a 4-3 thriller. Recent history in the rivalry has favored USC, which holds a 7-3 advantage over UCLA in the last 10 meetings between the programs.
With conference implications now in play, the matchup is guaranteed to be another highly competitive showdown between the Los Angeles rivals.
