Kaylee Fravert scored three goals to lead the Trojan offense to a 9-8 win over the Bears
LOS ANGELES – The USC lacrosse team (2-1) defeated No. 24 Brown (0-1) by a one-goal margin, 9-8, at Rawlinson Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 15. The win is the Trojans' first over a ranked opponent this season.

- So. attacker Kaylee Fravert scored three goals for her second hat trick of the season (sixth of her career).
- Jr. attacker Reese Robinson scored two goals, caused a turnover, and picked up one ground ball.
- Jr. midfielder Anna Regan dominated the center circle with 13 draw controls.
- Redshirt Jr. midfielder Hannah Barron had three caused turnovers, to go with a ground ball, a draw control, and an assist.
- Jr. attacker Emma Bunting dished out four assists and had one goal for five points. She also grabbed two ground balls.
- So. midfielder Alex May delivered the game-winning goal on a free-position shot.
- Sr. defender Asjia Roberson caused three turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls.
- Sr. defender Kate Gerrity collected two ground balls.
- So. defender Sophia DeJarnette had three ground balls and secured the final draw control of the game.
- Redshirt Jr. midfielder Hollis Mulry picked up three ground balls and had one shot on goal.
- So. goalie Ellie Thomas played the second half and was credited with the win with two saves and two ground balls.
- For the Bears, Ruby Silwkowski had half the goals with four including the first three for Brown and the final Bear goal of the game. Riley Peterson scored two goals. Annie Dignazio caused three USC turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
- USC outshot Brown, 29-14, including a 20-4 edge in the first half alone. The Trojans dominated the center circle to the tune of a 15-4 edge in draw controls and beat the Bears to ground balls by a 19-12 margin. In transition, both teams were successful on all but two clear attempts. USC was 16-for-18 and Brown was 20-for-22.
- The Trojans came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and won the first three draws to take a 3-0 lead on goals from Robinson, Bunting, and Fravert. Silwkowski responded with back-to-back unassisted goals to cut the USC lead to 3-2 at the end of the opening quarter.
- Silwkowski scored the first goal of the second quarter to equalize at three-all but Robinson (12:52) and Fravert (11:52) scored back-to-back goals one minute apart to push the Trojans in front, 5-3. Brown trimmed the lead to one with a goal from Bae Bounds, but Vivian Leuthold and Sydney Stewart scored two more under the three-minute mark to send the Trojans to the break with a three-goal lead, 7-4.
- A methodical Brown attack pulled the Bears even at seven-all with 1:11 to play in the third. Marley Wright scored at the 10:27 mark and then Peterson had each of her goals at 2:56 and 1:11. Off the next draw, Fravert took a feed from Bunting to score in just 15 seconds to put USC ahead, 8-7, heading into the fourth.
- After nearly six minutes of scoreless lacrosse, Brown tied the score once more at eight-all on Silwkowski's final goal. The teams went back and forth until May went to the line for a free-position attempt with 5:04 to play and found the back of the cage for what would hold up as the game winner. DeJarnette won the next draw and the teams traded barbs before the Trojan defense held on to close out the 9-8 win.
- USC goes on the road for games at UC Davis (Feb. 20) and Stanford (Feb. 22) next week. The game at Davis will be shown live on the Aggies' YouTube platform and the game against the Cardinal will be carried by ACC Network Extra.
- USC pulled even in its two-game series with the Bears. The last time the teams met, Brown won, 9-8, in overtime in Providence, R.I., on March 22, 2013.
- The Trojans moved to 2-1 at their new home field Rawlinson Stadium.
- USC collected its first win over a ranked opponent this spring and moved to 1-1 against ranked foes.
