Rice Signs With USC Men's Basketball

Rodney Rice comes to the Trojans from the University of Maryland.
LOS ANGELES - USC Men's Basketball will add Rodney Rice to the roster for the 2025-26 season, Head Coach Eric Musselman announced today.

"We are excited to welcome Rodney to the Trojan Family," Coach Musselman said. "Rodney is one of the most dynamic players in the country. He is going to be a huge addition as a combo guard. Rodney can score the ball at all three levels and defend at a high rate. He was also one of the top players in the Big Ten this past season."

Rice joins the Trojans after spending last season at Maryland, which made it to the Sweet Sixteen in this year's NCAA Tournament. He played in all 36 games for the Terrapins during his sophomore season, including 32 starts. Rice was the third leading scorer on the Terrapins, averaging 13.8 points per contest. The Clinton, Maryland, native scored in double-digits in 26 games last season, including a 26-point performance against Illinois in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Rice scored a career-high 28 points against Mount St. Mary's last season.Â

Prior to Maryland, Rice spent two seasons at Virginia Tech. During his freshman year for the Hokies, he averaged 20.1 minutes in eight games played. He dropped a season-high 17 points against NC State in the second round of the ACC Tournament in 2023. He did not compete in his sophomore season due to injury.

Coming out of high school, Rice was ranked as a four-star recruit, the third-best player in the state of Maryland, and the 10th-best combo guard in the nation, according to ESPN and 247 Sports. Rice was a three-year letter winner at DeMatha Catholic High School and was an All-Met First Team selection in 2021-22. He averaged 18.5 points per game during his high school career.

Rice will be the fifth addition to the Trojans' roster for the upcoming season.
