LOS ANGELES – After splitting its two matches on the road this past weekend, No. 26 USC men's tennis will host back-to-back matches against No. 21 Michigan and Michigan State this weekend at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
With just two weekends left in regular season play, the Trojans (12-7, 6-3 in Big Ten play) sit in fifth place in the conference. However, they will face stiff competition this weekend against the Big Ten's number two (Michigan State) and number three (Michigan) teams.
USC's first match will take place on Friday, where they will face off against the Spartans (13-7, 8-2 in conference play). Michigan State will enter the weekend on a two-game win streak, though the Spartans are just 3-6 when playing on the road this weekend. Michigan State is led by No. 9 Ozan Baris along with three other ranked singles players, but do not have a ranked doubles team.
No. 23 senior Peter Makk will likely have the task of battling with Baris, matching up against a top 10 opponents for the third time this season. So far, Makk is 1-1 in top 10 contests, scoring a huge win over No. 4 Carl Emil Overbeck earlier this season.
Following their match with Michigan State, the Trojans will have a day off before squaring up against the Wolverines (14-8, 8-2 in conference play). Michigan has four ranked singles players, led by No. 54 Gabin Young, and one ranked doubles team in No. 17 Young and Benjamin Kittay.
First serve against Michigan State will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium. The match against Michigan will start at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 13.
