April 29, 2025 | Baseball
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The USC baseball team won its seventh straight game on Tuesday night, with an 8-0 victory over CSUN on the road.
Six USC pitchers combined to hold the Matadors scoreless and Andrew Lamb was a single short of the cycle as USC moves to 30-14 overall on the season. CSUN falls to 10-29 with the loss. The 30th win of the year for USC gives the Trojans their third straight 30-win season for the first time since 2002.
The Trojans scored one run in the second and two in the third to grab an early 3-0 lead. After Lamb led off the second with a double, Jack Basseer later brought him home with a sacrifice fly. Lamb kept it rolling with an RBI triple in the third and then was driven in on a single by Abbrie Covarrubias.
USC really broke the game open with five runs in the seventh. Ethan Hedges singled in a run to start the rally in the seventh, then Adrian Lopez doubled home two runs to give the Trojans a 6-0 lead. Lamb's big day got even bigger as he capped the inning with a two-run home run.
The USC arms held the Matadors in check from the get-go on Tuesday night. Jackson Baker got the start and tossed 2.0 scoreless frames, then Ben Cushnie worked 1.2 innings and handed it off to Jude Favela in the fourth, who threw 2.1 scoreless innings as well. Sax Matson worked a scoreless seventh inning, followed by Andrew Harbour in the eighth and Ethan Hedges in the ninth.
