USC Diver Moritz Wesemann Wins Bronze at NCAA Championships

Luke Maurer sets school record in the 200y IM.

Federal Way, Wash. – USC diver Moritz Wesemann recorded the best finish for a Trojan in more than 25 years in the 1-meter diving event to highlight the second evening of competition at the 2025 NCAA Championships.

Wesemann finished third overall in the 1-meter springboard event, tallying 404.30 points in the championship final. During prelims, he scored 376.00 points. His finish is the best by a Trojan in more than 25 years.

Competing in the consolation final of 1-meter diving, Shangfei Wang finished seventh with 318.50 points. Previously, Wang has scored as high as fifth in the 1-meter championship final.

Sophomore Olympian Krzysztof Chmielewski posted a career best 4:10.16 in the prelims of the 500y freestyle, clocking the third fastest time in USC history. Chmielewski advanced to the consolation final in the event, finishing fifth in that heat.

During prelims, Luke Maurer lowered his USC school record in the 200y IM as he finished 19^th overall in 1:42.19.

USC turned in a season best 1:16.30 for 19th in the 200y freestyle relay as Diggory Dillingham, Luke Maurer, Oliver Sogaard-Andersen and Artem Selim showed off their splash and dash skills to close out the second evening of competition.

Through the second evening of competition, USC sits in 15^th place with 32 points. Texas leads the way with 190 points, followed by California in second with 159.5 and Indiana in third with 146 points.

Action continues tomorrow with swim prelims at 10 a.m. PT. The morning session will feature the 400y IM, 100y backstroke, 100y breaststroke, 200y freestyle, 100y butterfly and men's 3-meter diving. The evening session will include the 400y medley relay. All sessions can be streamed on ESPN+.
