Sogaard-Andersen, Chmielewski Post Top-Three Finishes At Big Ten Championships

Michal Chmielewski breaks own program record in the 100y fly in prelims, championship final
MADISON, Wis.- The USC men's swimming and diving team put up two top-three finishes on the second day of the Big Ten Championships. Along with that, Michal Chmielewski broke his own program record in the 100y butterfly not once but twice on the day.
Michal started the day by posting a 44.85 in the 100y butterfly prelims to advance to the finals. He then bettered the time with a mark of 44.57 to take third in the championship heat.
Diego Balbi finished seventh in the C final with a season best time of 46.50 prior to the record setting swim from Michal to kick off the swim portion of the evening.
Sanberk Oktar posted a time of 3:46.11 to finish fifth in the C final for USC before four Trojans competed in the 200y freestyle finals.
Vaggelis Makrygiannis came in at 1:35.27 to take fifth in the C final. Krzysztof Chmielewski touched first in the B final at 1:32.82 followed by Ian Pickles who turned in a time of 1:34.42 for eighth. Oliver Sogaard-Andersen clocked a time of 1:32.03 to finish second in the championship final and tie the third fastest time in program history.
Junhao Chan took first in the B final of the 100y breaststroke followed by an eighth place finish by Keller Morgan.
The 200y freestyle relay squad finished eighth with a time of 1:27.26 to wrap up the first full day of competition.
On the boards, Laurent Gosselin-Paradis tallied 311.80 points to take fifth in the 1-meter diving consolation final.
WEDNESDAY RECAP
The Trojan relay squad of Derek Zhang, Junhao Chan, Michal Chmielewski and Jan Bialecki took sixth in the 200y medley relay with a time of 1:23.59 to open the weekend. The quartet of Oliver Sogaard-Andersen, Sanberk Oktar, Vaggelis Makrygiannis and Krzysztof Chmielewski posted a top five finish with a time of 6:13.74 in the 800y freestyle relay.
