Men’s Swimming & Diving Continues Competition At Big Ten Championships

MADISON, Wis.- The USC men's swimming and diving team continued competition at the Big Ten Championships.
Luc Goertzen and Laurent Gosselin Paradis turned in two top five finishes in the 3-meter diving consolation final with scores of 329.05 and 325.10 respectively to begin the evening.
From there, four Trojans competed in the finals of the 100y backstroke. Griffin O'Leary (46.63), Vaggelis Makrygiannis (46.78) and Derek Zhang (46.95) finished fourth, fifth and seventh respectively in the C final. Michal Chmielewski continued his strong championship stretch with an A final appearance, clocking an NCAA qualifying time of 45.20 to take sixth.
The 200y breaststroke saw another four USC swimmers in the finals. Sanberk Oktar (1:54.94), Filip Mujan (1:55.17) and Keller Morgan (1:55.22) took third, fifth and sixth in the C final of the 200y breaststroke. Junhao Chan then turned in an NCAA qualifying time of 1:53.24 to take second in the B final.
Oliver Sogaard-Andersen and Ian Pickles posted times of 4:20.20 and 4:21.80 to finish third and fifth in the 500y freestyle C final. In the next race, Krzysztof Chmielewski won his second B final of the weekend by turning in a time of 4:14.50.
Jan Bialecki took seventh in the C final of the 50y free before the final event of the evening.
The 400y medley relay squad took sixth with a time of 3:05.33 to conclude the third day of competition.
