No. 21 USC Lacrosse Suffers Heartbreaker Against No. 11 Michigan

The Wolverines scored five straight in the fourth, as the Trojans start up Big Ten play 0-2
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 21 USC lacrosse (7-3, 0-2 Big Ten) suffered a heartbreaker against No. 11 Michigan (6-3, 1-1 Big Ten) 11-9 on Thursday, Mar. 20 at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium.

The Women of Troy continue their first Big Ten road trip as they take on another ranked opponent in No. 19 Ohio State (8-0, 1-0 Big Ten). USC will take on the Buckeyes starting at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET on Sunday, Mar. 23, at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

KEY PLAYERS:
- Senior Maddie Dora led the charge with three goals – her tenth hat trick of the season.
- Senior Alexis Niblock caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls. Four other Trojans had two or more ground balls.
- Freshman Charlotte Morton started her first career game, as she allowed 11 goals and had four saves.
- USC got off to a hot start by securing the first two goals of the game – Redshirt senior Isabelle Vitale and sophomore Emma Bunting – and ended the opening frame with a 5-2 advantage. Vitale served as the offense's focal point with two goals and one assist in the quarter. The Wolverines posted four shots on goal, as Morton recorded two saves.
- The Trojans would match Michigan in the second quarter and lose the third by one goal. During that span Dora scored two of her three goals.
- Heading into the fourth, USC held an 8-6 advantage and further added to that with the first goal of the quarter, 9-6. However, Michigan would prove it was not out of the contest, scoring four straight to go up by one. The Trojans would get a great chance to score when they were a woman up with five minutes left but couldn't capitalize on the opportunity. The Wolverines would score an empty netter to finalize the score 11-9.
