No. 21 USC Lacrosse Earns First Big Ten Victory Against No. 19 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 21 USC lacrosse (8-3, 1-2 Big Ten) held off a late rally from No. 19 Ohio State (8-1, 1-1 Big Ten), as the Trojans secured their first Big Ten victory, 9-8, on Sunday, Mar. 23 at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
KEY PLAYERS:
The Women of Troy head back home, as they take on now-No. 2 ranked Northwestern (8-1, 2-0 Big Ten). USC will take on the Wildcats starting at noon PT on Sunday, Mar. 30, at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
GAME NOTES:
KEY PLAYERS:
- Senior Maddie Dora recorded her tenth hat trick in ten games this season, as she put the Trojans up by two with 4:36 left on the clock in the fourth.
- Redshirt senior Isabelle Vitale posted the game-high for points with four. Vitale had two goals and two assists in the win.
- Junior Kate Gerrity posted the most caused turnovers as she was the lone Trojan with at least two.
- Freshman Charlotte Morton picked up her first win of her career as she allowed eight goals and had eight saves.
- In the draw circle, sophomore Anna Regan collected eight draw controls, while senior Catherine Lord had six of her own.
- USC started firing with two goals to open all the scoring. That would prove to be the message of the first quarter as the Women of Troy outscored OSU 4-1. Regan, Dora, freshman Kaylee Fravert, and sophomore Emma Bunting would collect goals, as those four, alongside Vitale, would record all the goals for the Women of Troy.
- The remaining quarters would represent a slower pace, as each team had two goals apiece in the second and third quarters. During that span, the Buckeyes recorded nine saves and USC – Morton – had five.
- OSU outscored the Women of Troy 3-1 in the final quarter, as Dora connected with the deciding goal at 4:36 in the fourth. USC put a shot on goal with a minute left in regulation but was saved, giving the Buckeyes the game's final possession. OSU made one shot in that final possession as they put one wide left of the net with five seconds left.

- The Trojans 68-33 in road games and 3-0 against Ohio State.
- The Women of Troy are 31-45 all-time against IWLCA ranked opponents, and 2-2 against ranked opponents this season.
- USC is 1-2 this season against Big Ten teams and is 22-11 all-time against current Big Ten opponents.
