No. 14 USC Women's Swimming and Diving Downs No. 22 UCLA 215-85 As Trojans Sweep All 16 Events

The Women of Troy sweep the Bruins for the first time in school history.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 14 USC women's swimming and diving team swept crosstown rival No. 22 UCLA for the first time in program history on Friday afternoon, defeating the Bruins 215-85 at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
USC claimed all 16 events, posting two relay wins and claiming both springboard diving events.
Today's win marked USC's first Big Ten dual meet victory, with USC now boasting a 33-17-1 all-time record over crosstown rival UCLA. The victory also marked the fourth-straight over the Bruins, with USC claiming the crosstown showdown the past four years.
As the winner of the rivalry meet, 10 points will be awarded to the Trojans in the battle for the Crosstown Cup, awarded annually to the school with the most successful athletic year against the other. Points are awarded to the winner of each Trojan-Bruin head-to-head contest (100 points is the magic number).
USC opened the meet with a victory in the women's 200y medley relay as the Trojan quartet of Caroline Famous, Kaitlyn Dobler, Minna Abraham and Vasilissa Buinaia turned in a 1:35.98 for first. The foursome clocked a season-best in the event and posted an NCAA automatic qualifying time to kick off the afternoon.
The Women of Troy carried the momentum into the first individual event of the day, as USC junior Claire Tuggle clocked a 9:38.22 to lead a 1-2 Trojan finish in the 1000y free. Marlene Kahler was second in a season-best 9:46.01. Freshman Lily Dormans also picked up points for USC in the event, finishing fourth in a season-best 10:00.08.
Sophomore's Minna Abraham and Macky Hodges turned in another 1-2 USC finish in the 200y freestyle as Abraham was first in 1:44.15, followed by Hodges in 1:45.41.
USC fifth-year Caroline Famous kept the momentum going as she turned in a season-best 51.37 in the 100y back to claim first.
Dobler, who missed the fall due to injury, returned to her winning ways against the Bruins, clocking a season-best 58.81 to claim the 100y breaststroke.
Justina Kozan led a 1-2 Trojan finish in the 200y butterfly as she touched first in a season-best 1:55.70. Senior Genevieve Sasseville was second, also in a season-best 1:56.68.
The Women of Troy were dominant in the splash and dash, as Famous blasted a 22.15 for first in the 50y free. Buinaia was second in 22.78.
In the diving well, freshman Kate Miller claimed the 3-meter diving event with a final score of 334.73. Grace Lee was third with 269.03 points, followed by Gabby Filzen in fourth with 251.70 points.
Coming out of the break, USC opened with a 1-2-3 Trojan finish in the 100y freestyle as Abraham clocked in at 48.94, Buinaia at 49.03 and Tuggle at 49.16.
Trailing for the first 150y of the 200y backstroke, Hodges would pull of a major comeback to claim the event in 1:55.07.
Dobler grabbed her second individual event win with a season-best 2:07.72 in the 200y breaststroke. Heading back to long distance, the Trojans swept the 500y free with Tuggle (4:40.13), Kozan (4:43.41), Ella Ristic (4:45.38) and Kahler (4:45.99) going 1-2-3-4.
On 1-meter, Miller dominated once again with a final score of 293.33, followed by Lee in third with a score of 278.25.
Just before the second break, Famous grabbed another season-best time to win the 100y fly in 51.84. Ashley McMillan followed it up by dropping over a second off her season-best in the 200y IM to win in 1:56.21.
The Women of Troy closed the meet with a sixteenth win of the day, with Buinaia, Ristic, Tuggle and Abraham combining for 3:15.18 to take the 400y free relay.
The Trojans now turn their attention to the upcoming 2025 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The meet will run Wed., Feb. 19 through Sat., Feb. 22.
