No. 18 USC Women’s Tennis Welcomes Cal To Marks Stadium
February 20, 2025 | Women's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – No. 18 USC women's tennis prepares to face an old foe this weekend, as California arrives at David X. Marks Stadium on Friday, February 21.
The Women of Troy have started the season off with a bang, opening with a 4-1 record amidst a seven-game homestand. Coming off a dominant sweep of San Diego, USC is prepared to face off against a former Pac-12 rival in one of the few remaining nonconference matches.
Cal is just 1-2 so far this spring, having lost two straight matches after opening the season with a win. Still, the Golden Bears expect to bring their best to Marks Stadium, fielding a line-up with four ranked singles players in No. 37 Katja Wiersholm, No. 65 Mao Mushika, No. 70 Lan Mi, and No. 106 Berta Passola Folch. The Golden Bears also have two ranked doubles teams – No. 14 Mao Mushika and Katjka Wiersholm and No. 37 Mushika and Jessica Alsola.
The Women of Troy will look to its own four ranked players–senior No. 43 Grace Piper, junior No. 53 Emma Charney, sophomore No. 63 Immi Haddad and freshman No. 71 Jana Hossam–to lead the way this Friday. Both Hossam and Piper have had exceptionally strong starts to the season, going 4-0 and 3-1 respectively.
With just two games left at home before conference play begins on the road, USC will use every opportunity to perfect their game. First serve against Cal will take place at 1:30 p.m. Live scoring and video can be found here.
