No. 17 USC Men’s Swimming Primed for Pac-12 Championships

Trojans on the hunt for 19th conference title.
LOS ANGELES – The No. 17 USC men's swimming squad kicks off the 2024 postseason this week at the Pac-12 Championships at the Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash., Wed. March 6 through Sat., March 9.
Troy recently wrapped up the regular season 2-5 (0-5 in conference duals).
The hotly competitive Pac-12's feature four teams in the CSCAA's Top-25 heading into the conference championships, including top-ranked No.1 ASU, No. 2 Cal, No. 5 Stanford, No. 17 USC and No. 23 Arizona.
The four-day meet will be hosted at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. All finals sessions throughout the week will be streamed or televised (schedule below).

Men's Pac-12 Diving Championships Recap:
At the recently concluded Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships, USC was well represented under Trojan 25thyear head coach Hongping Li's leadership.
USC junior Shangfei Wang led Troy in the men's 1-meter diving competition, finishing second with 396.25 points. Also appearing in the final was Laurent Gosselin-Paradis (351.10) and Robert Gref (270.45) who finished fifth and
eighth, respectively. Trojans Wesley Ahart (:242.05) and Tatsuya Machida (206.20) were 17th and 19th, respectively.
Gosselin-Paradis reached the Pac-12 championship final on 3-meter, finishing fifth with 340.10 points in prelims and third in the championship final with 393 points. Trojan Robert Gref finished 10th with 300.50 points, while Wesley Ahart (238.15) and Tatsuya Machida (225.55) finished 17th and 18th, respectively.
During the final day of competition, sophomore Gosselin-Paradis captured his third Pac-12 individual title, winning the men's platform competition with 407.75 points. The Trojan outscored his opponents by nearly 30 points to defend his 2023 title in the event. Troy's Robert Gref also reached the championship final of the platform diving competition, tallying 285.20 points as he finished seventh.
PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS NOTES
The Trojans, who in 2015 won their first Pac-12 title since 1979 with a program record 818.5 points, finished second in 2016 and third in 2017 and 2018. In 2019, USC finished fifth and won two events including the 100y breast and 500y free. In 2020 the Trojans finished sixth with 318.5 points and saw USC's Henry Fusaro take home the Pac-12 Swim/Dive Scholar Athlete of the Year award … 2021 saw USC finished fifth overall (414 points), led by Alexei Sancov's 200y free title and second-place, record setting win in the 200y fly. In 2022, USC finished fourth with 449 points as multiple Trojans made championship final appearances and George Korovin won on platform … Last season, USC finished fifth at the conference championships with 314.5 points as the Trojans swept the diving events and had four swimming championship final appearances.
USC, which has 18 Pac-12 team titles overall, came from behind in 2015 on the final night to overtake Stanford (809.5) while defending champion California was third (673). The last time the meet had been decided by nine or less points was 1999, when Stanford edged Cal by eight points … Until 2020, USC had won at least one Pac-12 individual title for 23 consecutive seasons (1997-2019) … USC has 256 individual conference crowns overall ... USC had its conference-best streak of seven Pac-12 200y free titles in row snapped in 2017 but has still claimed it 13 times since 1997 … Before its win in the 400y free relay in 2018, USC last won relay titles in 2015 when it captured the 400y and 800y free relays and the 400y medley relay. Troy has never won a title in the 200y medley relay.
