WESTWOOD, Calif. – The USC baseball team put up season highs in hits and runs on Friday night as the Trojans took the opener against crosstown rivals UCLA, 15-2, in Westwood.

The 15 runs scored by the Trojans were the most by a USC team against UCLA since 2002 and the 13-run margin was the largest for the Trojans in the series since 2002 as well. USC moves to 8-13 overall and 4-3 in Pac-12 play, while UCLA falls to 7-12 overall and 2-5 in Pac-12 play.

USC broke the game open with a seven-run sixth inning, extending what was already a 5-1 advantage with five hits in the frame. USC also scored three runs in the fifth and seventh innings, putting up 13 runs in the three-inning span.

Seven different USC players had hits in the game and five players had multi-hit games. Ryan Jackson and Jacob Galloway each had a team-high four RBI and Ethan Hedges had a three-hit day. Galloway got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the third inning.

Caden Aoki complimented the explosive offensive output with 6.0 stellar innings on the mound, giving up just one run on five hits. Aoki has thrown 6.0 innings and given up one run in each of his last two starts, picking up wins over Stanford and UCLA. Four more USC pitchers would combine to hold UCLA to just one more run over the final three innings.
