
USC Men's Basketball Falls To Oregon, 78-69, Despite Late Comeback Bid

LOS ANGELES — Boogie Ellis scored 17 points, but it wasn't enough as USC men's basketball fell to Oregon, 78-69, at Galen Center on Thursday night.
The loss extended the Trojans' losing streak to six games.
Oziyah Sellers scored in double-digits for the second straight game with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting for the Trojans (8-13, 2-8 Pac-12). Arrinten Page had eight points and four blocks in his second career start. Joshua Morgan also had four blocks, while DJ Rodman grabbed seven rebounds and Bronny James dished seven assists.
Jackson Shelstad, who scored 21 points in the first meeting between USC and Oregon (15-6. 7-3 Pac-12) on Dec. 28, notched 10 of the Ducks' first 11 points that gave the visitors an early edge. The Trojans slowly reduced the lead and eventually tied the game with 4:39 remaining in the first half, but Oregon broke out on a 9-0 run before the buzzer.
With neither team shooting well, Oregon slowly built its lead to 17 points with 5:21 left in the game. Page had two dunks that sparked a 13-3 run in the final four minutes of the game that USC within seven points.

Ellis intercepted an inbounds pass with 49 seconds remaining that could have further threatened the Ducks' lead, but USC missed four straight shots on a frenetic possession that effectively ended the comeback bid.
Shelstad finished with a game-high 20 points for Oregon, which tied for first place with Arizona in the Pac-12 standings with the win.
USC wraps up its three-game homestand Saturday against Oregon State (4:30 p.m. PT/Pac-12 Networks) before embarking on the Bay Area road trip next week.
