Bio
BREAKDOWN: Oziyah Sellers is a 6-5, 185-pound sophomore guard who is an excellent outside shooter and has length which makes him a strong perimeter defender. He enters the season off a strong summer campaign.
2022-23: Sellers played in 25 games, all off the bench, and averaged 1.1 points and 0.3 rebounds per game. After a very good summer and preseason, which included him scoring 17 points with 5 three-pointers made during a closed scrimmage against LMU, he struggled out of the gate. He made 1 of his first 13 shots (.091) in his first 13 games, then closed the season making 10 of his last 20 (50.0 percent) over his last 12 games played. His first basket was a three-pointer made against Alabama State on Nov. 10. He did not score again until Jan. 19 at Arizona when he scored 2 points, the first of three games in a row with a bucket. He scored a career-best 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting, including making 2 three-pointers, vs. Californa on Feb. 16.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sellers graduated from Southern California Academy in 2022 with fellow USC teammate Vincent Iwuchukwu. They helped lead the SCA Rams to a 24-4 regular season record and a No. 10 national ranking. Sellers averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists for SCA as a senior, while shooting 45.0 percent from behind the three-point line. He was ranked as the No. 10 player from California according to ESPN. In the championship game of their bracket in the John Wall Holiday Invitational in December 2021, Sellers led Southern California Academy by scoring 20 points, including six made three-pointers.
