USC Swimming Headed to Austin For Texas Hall of Fame Invitational

LOS ANGELES - The No. 16/20 USC women's and men's swimming teams conclude fall competition this weekend with a trip to Austin, Texas, for the three-day Texas Hall of Fame Invitational. The mid-season invite runs Wed., Nov. 20 through Fri., Nov. 22 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Each day's events begin with prelims starting at 8 a.m. PT/10 a.m. CT, followed by finals at 4 p.m. PT/6 p.m. CT.
Both USC squads will be put to the test, with the women and men facing competition from No. 1/2 Texas, No. 4/8 Stanford, No. 10/14 Wisconsin, BYU and Pitt. Some of the top talent in the country will be in competition at the mid-season event, with many NCAA A cuts and nation-leading times expected to be posted.Â
All results will be available online and on the Meet Mobile app. Further meet info can be found here. The competition will not include any awards and will not be scored.Â
SO FAR THIS SEASON:
USC continues to be unbeaten in dual meets this season. During the October home opener, the Trojans captured both 'dual' wins at the USC Invitational, defeating Hawaii in the process. The Women of Troy grabbed first in all four relays, while Troy claimed three out of four relays (400y medley relay, 200y free relay and 200y medley relay). USC also won a combined 12 individual events at the invite.Â
In early November, the Trojans beat former Pac-12 rival Arizona in an additional home dual. Sophomore All-American and Olympian Minna Abraham posted the fastest time in the country so far this season in the 200y freestyle, claiming the event in 1:42.01 for an NCAA A-cut.Â
In addition to Abraham's automatic bid in the 200y free, fourteen Trojans picked up NCAA Provisional times over the course of the combined 2-0 start to the season. On the women's side – Caroline Famous (50y free – 22.45 / 100y back – 52.24 / 100y fly – 52.33), Vasilissa Buinaia (50y free – 22.49 / 100y free – 48.59), Macky Hodges (200y free – 1:45.17 / 200y IM – 1:58.29 / 200y back – 1:54.76 / 1650y free – 16:37.72), Minna Abraham (100y free – 47.96 / 100y fly – 53.17 / 400y IM – 4:09.36), Ella Ristic (500y free – 4:46.18), Justina Kozan (200y fly – 1:57.62) and Ashley McMillan (400y IM – 4:16.02). On the men's side – Krzysztof Chmielewski (500y free – 4:17.88 / 200y fly – 1:42.37), Luke Maurer (200y free – 1:34.04), Oliver Sogaard-Andersen (200y free – 1:34.79), Junhao Chan (100y breast – 52.66 / 200y breast – 1:55.48), Michal Chmielewski (1650y free – 15:17.32), Ben Dillard (100y breast – 53.39 / 200y breast – 1:56.67) and Chris O'Grady (100y breast – 53.23).
