USC Swimming Set for Home Opener, Hosts Two Day Invitational

The No. 8/No. 21 Trojans will host the two-day, three-session USC Invitational beginning Friday, Oct. 11.
The No. 8 USC women's and No. 21 USC men's swimming programs will see action this Friday and Saturday as the Trojans host Hawaii for the two-day, three-session USC Swim Invitational at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Meet Information
The two-day invite will include three sessions - the first begins Friday at 9 a.m., followed by an afternoon session at 3:00 p.m. Action will continue Saturday with one final session at 9 a.m.
All three sessions will have live results available via the Meet Mobile App.
The meet will be scored similar to a traditional dual.

Friday 10/11 3 PM: 200 free relay, 400 individual medley relay, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast

2024-25 COMPETITION OUTLOOK
USC will host a combined six events at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center this season, as the Trojans will see Hawaii, Arizona, UCSD, UCLA and UNLV on deck for duals. In addition to this weekend's invite, USC will host the Trojan Diving Invitational next month (11/22-24).
The Women of Troy will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the school's first Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 19-22. Troy on the other hand will visit the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center for the Big Ten Championships running Feb. 26 through March 1 in Minneapolis, Minn.
WOMEN'S SQUAD
Entering her third season at the helm, Maurer returns major star talent from her undefeated 2023-24 squad, including four fifth-year All-Americans. NCAA 100y breaststroke champion Kaitlyn Dobler returns for her fifth and final season alongside two-time Pac-12 50y freestyle champion and two-time Olympian Anicka Delgado. Other top returners include fifth-year All-Americans Caroline Famous and Vasilissa Buinaia.
Last season, Maurer earned the Pac-12 Women's Swim Coach of the Year Award following an undefeated dual season that include historic wins over Cal and Stanford. Additionally, the Women of Troy won seven conference swim crowns at the 2024 Pac-12 Championships and ultimately finished eighth at the NCAA Championships. Freshman phenom Minna Abraham turned in a stellar first-year campaign that included five All-America honors and five conference crows, earning her the title of Pac-12 Women's Swim Newcomers of the Year.
Other top returners for the Trojans include Olympian and distance freestyle specialist Marlene Kahler and All-Americans Macky Hodges and Claire Tuggle.
USC welcomed Big Ten transfer Ella Ristic during the offseason, a graduate student from Indiana. At IU, Ristic was a three-time All-American and a member of Indiana's 2024 Big Ten Championship team. As a senior, the freestyle specialist was named to the All-Big Ten First Team.
Seven new Women of Troy will represent USC this season including New York High School State Champion Cornelia Fox, Montana High School State record holder Julia Huffmaster and five-time CIF Central Division II Champion Alexa Wong.

USC returns a pair of All-American swimmers this season in Krzysztof Chmielewski and Chris O'Grady. Additionally, three Trojans opted to return for a fifth year, as Ryan Abdollahi, Ben Dillard and Danny Syrkin will represent this season.
Troy added some veteran talent over the summer with addition of All-American transfer Luke Maurer (Stanford) and breaststroke specialist Anthony Fitzgerald (Wheaton College).
11 Trojan rookies join the squad this season, with high school standouts Diggory Dillingham, Nasim Elkassem and Pierce O'Grady looking to be instant-impact additions to the team.
