USC Women’s Basketball Adds Talent from TCU In Grad Transfer Roxane Makolo

Canadian product joins the Trojan backcourt for the coming 2023-24 season.
USC women's basketball brings in an extra dose of international experience with the addition of Roxane Makolo, who joins the Trojans as a graduate transfer, head coach Lindsay Gottlieb has announced. The Canadian product comes to USC by way of Purdue and TCU.
"Roxane is a tremendous competitor and athlete that will contribute in key ways to what we are building at USC," Gottlieb said of Makolo. "She has a variety of experiences, both in college and international competition, that will aid in her ability to impact our team culture and performance. Roxane is versatile on both sides of the ball, and I can't wait to welcome her into our Trojan Family."
A gold-medalist with Canada at the 2015 FIBA U-16 Americas, Makolo began her collegiate career at Purdue. As a Boilermaker, the 5-10 guard played in 31 games as a true freshman before being sidelined by injuries for the next two seasons. Makolo then made the move to TCU and got back to action, appearing in 29 games and starting 19 while averaging 5.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She set career highs with a 15-point outing and a 10-rebound performance that season, finishing out the year shooting .317 from the floor.
A native of Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Makolo represented Team Canada at the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup, 2018 FIBA U18 Americas Championship, 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. At the 2018 event, she helped Canada to a second-place finish while continuing 9.8 points per game. She also won gold at the 2017 Canada Summer Games playing for Team Quebec.

Makolo is the fourth grad transfer addition to USC's 2023-24 roster, joining Ivy League products Kaitlin Davis, McKenzie Forbes and Kayla Padilla. In all, the USC women have six newcomers on their way to Troy for the coming season, with true freshmen Juju Watkins and Malia Samuels also starting their Trojan careers.Welcome to the #TrojanFamily, Roxane Makolo!
