USC Baseball Drops Doubleheader at Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The USC baseball team was swept in a doubleheader at Arizona on Friday, falling 13-4 in the early game and 6-3 in the nightcap.
The Trojans fall to 32-22-1 overall and 16-13 in Pac-12 play, while Arizona moves to 30-22, 12-17.
The Trojans dropped the opener after taking a 1-0 lead in the second, giving up three in the fourth, four in the fifth and four in the seventh. USC managed nine hits in the game, but left five men on base. Trojan pitching gave up 11 free bases in the game (eight walks, three hit-by-pitches).
In the nightcap, it was Arizona who would strike first, getting on the board with three runs in the third inning en route to taking a 4-0 lead into the sixth. USC cut it to a one-run game thanks to an RBI single from Cole Gabrielson and a two-run single from Jacob Galloway. Arizona answered with a pair of solo-shots in the bottom half of the inning, however, making it 6-3.
Caden Connolly tossed 2.2 scoreless relief innings to close game two, but the Trojans were unable to mount a comeback. USC left eight runners on in the late game.
