LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team scored 17 runs on 10 hits and 14 walks to power its way to a 17-4 victory over the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday night at Dedeaux Field.

USC moves to 2-0 with the win after taking yesterday's opener 8-6 and will go for the sweep tomorrow at 11 a.m.

It was a relatively slow start for the Trojans as USC trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth, but the USC offense capitalized on a couple Marist errors to put up five runs in the inning. The Trojans added four runs in the fifth to really break things open and then put the game out of reach with six in the seventh.

USC sent 14 players to the plate in the game, getting hits and RBI's from six different Trojans. Nick Lopez and Austin Overn each had four-RBI games, with Lopez hitting his second homer in as many days. Lopez's mammoth 404 foot shot in the fifth inning gave USC an 8-3 lead. Overn's three-run triple in the seventh capped the scoring.

Jaden Agassi tossed 6.1 innings and gave up just one earned run to pick up the victory on the mound. Caden Connolly tossed the next 1.2 frames and Jason Starrels threw a perfect ninth to close it out. The USC pitching staff walked just one batter on the day.
