USC's Boogie Ellis Named To Sporting News Preseason All-America First Team

USC guard Boogie Ellis was named to the five-player Sporting News Preseason All-America Team, it was announced by the online publication today (Nov. 13).

Ellis is joined on the Sporting News Preseason All-America team by center Zach Edey of Purdue, forward Kyle Filipowski of Duke, forward Graham Ike of Gonzaga and guard Tyler Kolek of Marquette.

Through USC's first two games of the season, Ellis has averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals. The second-year team captain has helped guide USC to opening week wins over 2023 Elite Eight team Kansas State (82-69) in Las Vegas on Nov. 6 and over CSU Bakersfield (85-59) at home on Nov. 9.

The fifth-year guard Ellis led USC with a 17.7 points per game average last season and was named to the 2022-23 Pac-12 All-Conference first team. He finished fourth in the league in scoring and tied for first in three-pointers made with 83. Ellis scored a total of 583 points which rank 10th on USC's all-time single-season list. Ellis also made 80.5 percent of his free throws, while making a team-leading 120 shots from the charity stripe.
