Kayla Williams Transfers To Troy To Join USC Women’s Basketball

The 5-7 guard was a two-time All-Big West First Team honoree.
LOS ANGELES — USC women's basketball gets a boost in the backcourt with the signing of transfer Kayla Williams to join the Women of Troy, USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb has announced. Williams comes to USC after playing two stellar seasons at UC Irvine.
"Kayla is special. She's a dynamic guard who is a proven scorer and playmaker,' Gottlieb said of Williams. "She has a winning presence and natural leadership abilities. We knew from the moment she stepped on campus that she belongs at USC."
A Los Angeles native hailing from Bishop Montgomery HS, she was ranked as the No. 21 guard in the nation in 2019 and was a nominee for the McDonald's All-American Game.
Williams is now one of four new Trojan additions for 2022-23, joining fellow transfers Koi Love and Kadi Sissoko along with true freshman Aaliyah Gayles.

A two-time All-Big West First Team honoree at UC Irvine, the 5-7 guard was also named Big West Freshman of the Year in 2021. She was the first Anteater freshman to earn All-Big West First Team honors. Williams is coming off a 2021-22 season in which she led UC Irvine in scoring (15.5 points per game), assists (4.2 per game) and 3-pointers made (68). Also with the Anteaters, Williams was selected to the Big West All-Tournament Team in 2021 and 2022.
