USC Swimming Closes Out Fall Action at Art Adamson Invite

The No. 5 USC women's and No. 16 USC men's swimming teams wrapped up action at the three-day Art Adamson Invite on Friday, Nov. 18, with the Trojans finishing second (women) and third (men) in the team standings.
In the most recent CSCAA rankings (Nov. 17) the Women of Troy moved up three spots in the polls to No. 5, while the men moved up one spot to No. 16.
USC swimming returns to action on January 7th as the Trojans will welcome UNLV to the Uytengsu Aquatics Center for an 11 a.m. Saturday dual.
FRIDAY:
During the final evening of competition, USC saw 16 Trojans race in A-finals, with Trojan Hanna Henderson taking second in the 200y back in a season best 1:54.55. USC also finished 4-5 in that event as Ashley McMillan (1:56.64) and Aria Bernal (1:57.09) touched shortly behind Henderson.
Junior Anicka Delgado claimed third in the 100y free, posting a 48.68 in the event and tie with Alabama's Kalia Antoniou. On the men's side, Max Saunders was fifth in the 100y free, blasting a season best 43.21.
Isabelle Odgers led a stacked 200y breaststroke final for USC, touched second in 2:07.54. Shortly behind Odgers would be Kaitlyn Dobler in third (2:08.94) and Katherine Adams (2:11.46) in fifth. Troy finished 3-4-7 in the event as Chris O'Grady (1:52.79), Ben Dillard (1:53.29) and Henry Blaul (1:56.43) would finish third, fourth and seventh, respectively.
Freshman Justina Kozan was USC's only representation in the women's 200y fly A-final, touching third in 1:54.91. Troy saw senior Harry Homans claim second in the event, dropping a 1:44.48 for a season best. Danny Syrkin was fourth in the A-final in 1:45.13, while Jackson Odgers was fifth in 1:45.48.
THURSDAY:
The Women of Troy were dominant on Thursday evening, with NCAA Champion Kaitlyn Dobler posting an A&M pool record in the 100y breaststroke as she claimed the event in 56.94. With her win, Dobler officially closed out 2022 undefeated in the 100y breaststroke at NCAA competitions. A season personal best for Dobler, her finals time was just .01 off her USC school record set at the 2022 NCAA Championships (56.93). Joining Dobler in the final was fifth year Isabelle Odgers, who touched eighth in 1:00.86.
Earlier in the evening, Odgers spearheaded a 2-3 Trojan finish in the 400y I.M. as she'd touch second in 4:08.63. Freshman Ella Flowers was shortly behind in third in 4:14.05.
On the men's side, Troy was well represented in the A-final of the 100y breaststroke, as sophomore Chris O'Grady tied for third in 52.09 (season PR). Junior Ben Dillard was sixth in the event in 53.03.
USC closed out the second evening of competition with a win in the 800y freestyle relay as the Trojan quartet of Justina Kozan, Marlene Kahler, Genevieve Sasseville and Anicka Delgado combined for a 7:07.00 to take the event.
WEDNESDAY:
USC captured four events on Wednesday night, as sophomore Olympian Marlene Kahler touched first in the 500y freestyle, posting a 4:40.57. Trojans Paul Retterer (4:23.88) and Trent Martinez (4:25.19) would finish sixth and eighth, respectively in the 500y free.
The Women of Troy's A quartet of Anicka Delgado, Elise Garcia, Hanna Henderson and Kaitlyn Dobler opened the evening with a victory in the 200y free relay as they'd combine for a 1:27.38 to take the event.
Fifth year Isabelle Odgers captured the 200y IM, recording a season best 1:55.84 for first. Shortly behind Odgers were freshman Ashley McMillan (1:57.52), Justina Kozan (1:58.66) and Katherine Adams (1:58.97), who finished third, fifth and sixth, respectively.
