Drew Peterson's Big Second Half Leads USC Men's Basketball Over Vermont, 59-57

LOS ANGELES — Drew Peterson scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half as USC men's basketball defeated Vermont, 59-57, at home on Tuesday night.
The senior captain also finished with eight rebounds and eight assists. Peterson converted a key and-one play late in the game that helped seal the game for the Trojans (2-1).

Reese Dixon-Waters had 13 points, while Boogie Ellis scored 10. Freshman Tre White grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds off the bench.
USC never led by more than six points the entire night as the game saw 19 lead changes between the two teams. The Trojans shot just 25.9 percent from the field in the first half as they allowed Vermont (1-3) to take a 27-22 lead at halftime.
Vermont hit a 3-pointer at the start of the second half that gave the Catamount's their largest lead of eight points, but a 12-4 run helped USC regain the advantage.

Both teams traded the lead up late in the fourth quarter, when Peterson made his and-one play with 1:57 left in the game. Vermont made a layup on its next possession, but Ellis answered with a dagger 3-pointer with 52 seconds remaining.
Finn Sullivan had a team-high 17 points for Vermont, which committed just seven turnovers as a team.
The Trojans play their final game of their four-game homestand against Mount St. Mary's. on Friday (8:00 p.m. PT/Pac-12 Networks) prior to next week's Bad Boy Bowers Battle 4 Atlantis event.
