2022-23 SEASON OUTLOOK:
A new era of USC swimming kicks off this season with first year head coach Lea Maurer at the helm. As interim head coach, Maurer's 2022 Trojans were highlighted by the efforts of sophomore Kaitlyn Dobler who became an NCAA champion in the 100y breast with a USC and Pac-12 record (56.93). Dobler, who repeated as the Pac-12 100y breast champion, claimed one of four conference crowns the Women of Troy won in 2022 (Isabelle Odgers 200y breast, Anicka Delgado 50y free, Caroline Pennington 1650y free). After finishing third at Pac-12's, the Trojans (5-2, 4-2) would wrap up the NCAA Championships at 16th overall, as four of Maurer's swimmers picked up All-American honors.
USC welcomed a trio of graduate transfers over the summer as diver Carolina Sculti (Stanford) and swimmers Elise Garcia (Cal) and Aria Bernal (Arizona) will increase the talent on the Women of Troy's roster. Sculti, a two-time Pac-12 3-meter champion and Garcia a 2021 NCAA 200y free relay champion look to score for the Trojans at both the conference and NCAA championships this upcoming season. Bernal, a backstroke specialist, trained under first year associate head coach Peter Richardson and alongside assistant coach Brooks Fail at Arizona.
Six Trojan rookies join the squad this season, with a pair of U.S.A. Swimming National Junior team members in Katherine Adams and Justina Kozan and a German Olympian Hannah Kuechler contributing their talents. Also new to the roster are freshman Ella Flowers, Ashley McMillan and Sydney Brakebill.
