USC drops to 3-5 with the loss, while Pepperdine improves to 2-7.
The Trojans led after the first inning, getting two runs early, but Pepperdine came back with a run in the second and three in the third to take the lead for the rest of the afternoon. USC cut a 6-3 deficit to one run courtesy of two in the fifth, but a four-run sixth inning from the visitors put things out of reach.
USC recorded 11 hits in the game, while the Waves had 17. Jamal O'Guinn drove in four runs on the day and Clay Owens hit a solo-homer.
