Seven Women Of Troy Score ACWPC All-America Honors
April 27, 2020 | Women's Water Polo, Features
Five Trojans are first-time All-Americans.
Although 2020 competition was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches has moved forward in awarding All-America honors this season. The USC women's water polo team was ranked No. 1 in the nation when the cancellation came, and now the Trojans can boast seven All-Americans — including five first-time honorees.
Senior captains Denise Mammolito and Kelsey McIntosh are the only repeats on the list. Both upgraded their 2019 honorable mention status to First Team this year. Mammolito is now a three-time All-American, and McIntosh is a two-time selection with this year's First Team spots.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Trojans 2020 All-Americans are new to the honor roll. Sophomores Bayley Weber (Second Team), Grace Tehaney (Third Team) and Mireia Guiral (Honorable Mention) all can boast All-America status in just their second year of work as Trojans. USC also has two veterans on the list, with redshirt junior goalie Holly Parker and senior Elise Stein each earning Honorable Mention for 2020.
Parker was USC's go-to goalie in 2020, while the other six All-Americans weighed in as USC's top-six scorers on the year.
