Miljenic posts season best 19.48 in the 50y free
Junior Nikola Miljenic made his third career appearance in a conference A final to highlight USC's second evening at the 2020 Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championships on Thursday (March 5) in Federal Way, Wash.
USC sits in fifth with 210 points. Stanford leads the way with 283.5 followed by Cal (278), Arizona (257), Arizona State (211), USC and Utah (187.5).
Miljenic, who finished fourth in last years Pac-12 50y free, posted a 19.53 in prelims to earn a spot in the A-final for the second year in a row. Miljenic's 19.48 finals time led him to a fifth-place finish in the A-finals.
In the 500y free, freshmen Trent Martinez (4:25.92) and Dom Margarino (4:22.15) posted season best preliminary times to earn spots in the bonus final. Margarino touched second in the bonus final in 4:20.97 while Martinez finished fifth with 4:23.10.
Sophomore Alexei Sancov (1:46.23) finished sixth in the consolation final of the 200y IM to score points for the Trojans.
USC's 200y free relay of Miljenic, Sancov, Saunders and Finello touched sixth in 1:18.99
The meet continues Friday and Saturday with prelims at 11 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
