High School: Martinez prepped at Jesuit High in Portland, Ore., where he was a two-time state champion in both the 200y and 500y free in 2017 and 2018 while finishing second in both in 2019 senior and top 3 in both as a 2016 freshman … A 2018 Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American, he was a four-time finalist at the 2019 USA Swimming Futures Championships at Mount Hood, including a pair of thirds in the 100m and 200m free.
Club: Tualatin Hills Swim Club.
Personal: He is majoring in accounting. Started swimming club in second grade. Trojan Athletic Senate Co-President.
MARTINEZ'S PERSONAL RECORDS:
- Swam in three races at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing 19th in the 200y free (1:37.35/1:37.80), 20th in the 100y free (44.96/45.05) and 24th in the 500y free (4:29.16/4:30.81).
- Against Cal (Jan. 29-30), Martinez was fifth in the 500y free (4:37.15) and sixth in the 100y free (45.49).
- Named to the Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll
2020:
- Martinez raced in three events at the 2020 Pac-12 Championships, finishing 21st in 500y free (4:23.10), 24th in the 200y free (1:38.08) and 37th in the 100y free (44.75).
- At the Art Adamson Invite, his top finishes included a 12th in the 500y free (4:25.47) and a 13th in the 200y free (1:38.44).
