High School: Sancov prepped at Northgate High in Walnut Creek, Calif., in 2017 and 2018, where he was a two-time California state title winner in the 200y free. He won the state crown in 2017 with a state record 1:34.35 and broke it in 2018 with a 1:34.13 ... Sancov shared high point honors at the 2018 Speedo Junior National Championships, winning the 200m free (1:47.75), taking second in the 100m free (49.58) and 100m fly (53.28) and sixth in the 50m free (23.11) … At the 2017 Speedo Juniors, Sancov posted a Moldovan national record in the 100m fly with a 53.24. Earlier in 2017 at the European Junior Championships, he set a world junior record in the 200m free with a first-place swim of 1:47.00. Sancov won silver at the meet in the 100m free (49.01) … Also in 2017, he won the 200y (1:33.93) and 500y free (4:22.43) at the CIF North Coast Section Championships … At the 2016 Olympics, Sancov, competing for Moldova raced in the 200m free, placing 34th (1:48.85).

Personal: Sancov, born Oct. 15, 1999, is a social sciences major. He was born in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. His family moved to California in 2017.
SANCOV'S PERSONAL RECORDS:
- At NCAA’s, Sancov was 19th in the 200-yard Butterfly (1:42.29) and 28th in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:33.41). Swam on USC’s 400-yard Freestyle relay that placed 15th (3:04.56), the 200-yard Freestyle relay that captured 19th place (1:16.90), the 200-yard Medley relay that placed 19th (1:23.77) and the 800-yard Freestyle relay that placed 22nd (6:20.03)
- At Pac-12’s, finished seventh in the 200-yard Butterfly (1:43.10/1:42.72) and 18th in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:36.12/1:34.34). Also joined the 200-yard Medley relay that placed 4th (1:23.76), the 400-yard Medley relay that took home 4th (3:05.69), the 800-yard Freestyle relay that took home 5th (6:17.03), the 200-yard Freestyle relay that placed 5th (1:17.37) and the 400-yard Freestyle relay that placed 5th (2:52.92)

2021:
- Sancov’s stellar junior campaign was highlighted by a Pac-12 Title in the 200y free (1:32.20) and an NCAA bid that led him to podium finish.
- At NCAA’s, Sancov was 7th in the 200y free (1:33.64) and 11th in the 200y fly (1:41.90). He also swam in USC’s 400y and 800y free relays that finished 18th.
- At Pac-12’s Sancov picked up his first conference crown, taking the 200y free in 1:32.20 (1:32.97 – prelims) and was second in the 200y fly (1:41.04), lowering his own USC 200y fly record. He also appeared in the Trojans 400y free relay that took third (2:51.35).
- Posted wins in both the 100y fly (46.43) and 200y free (1:34.43) against Utah (Feb. 12-13).
- CSCAA All-American Second Team honors (200 free, 200 fly).
- First-Team CSCAA Scholar All-American.
- Represented the Republic of Moldova at the 2020 Games, Sancov was 26th in the 200m free in 1:47.46 and 26th in the 200m fly (1:57.55)
2020:
- Sancov, a 2016 Olympian from Moldova, turned in an impressive sophomore campaign highlighted by an NCAA bid and CSCAA All-American honors in the 200y free and fly.
- At Pac-12s Sancov was ninth in the 200y fly (1:43.32), 11th in the 200y free (1:34.51) and 14th in the 200y IM (1:46.23).
- Named Pac-12 Swimmer of the Month (Nov.) after breaking a pair of USC records at the Art Adamson Invite (200y fly - 1:42.20 and 200y IM - 1:43.92). He also set a Texas A&M pool record posting a 1:48.56 in the 200M free prelims and took the event in finals with a season-best 1:32.95 in the 200y free, a time that was the 14th-fastest in the country headed into NCAAs.
- Sancov was dominant in Pac-12 dual-meet action, winning both the 100y and 200y fly against ASU and Utah.
- Named Pac-12 Men’s Swimmer of the week (Jan. 22) after posting a two-win meet against Minnesota in mid-January, taking the 200y free (1:38.07) and the 200y IM (1:50.81).
2019:
- Raced at the 2019 NCAA Championships as a freshman, helping USC to 14th in the 200y free relay.
- At the Pac-12 Championships, Sancov scored in the 200y free, finishing 11th (1:35.00) while also taking 17th in the 100y free prelims (43.90) and 23rd in the 50y free (20.20).
- At the Texas Invitational, Sancov was sixth in the 200y free in 1:34.22 and 14th in the 200y IM (1:47.05).
