June 18, 2019 | Women's Basketball, Features
Another new Trojan signs on for USC women’s basketball.
Beware the USC backcourt! USC's 2019-20 women's basketball roster just got another depth charge with the addition of 6-1 guard Aliyah Jeune, who joins the Women of Troy as a graduate transfer from Morehead State, USC head coach Mark Trakh has announced.Â
"We are very happy to announce that Aliyah will be joining the Trojan Family," Trakh said of Jeune. "Aliyah is an athletic wing who can defend, shoot the three and get to the basket. We are very excited about our prospects for the upcoming season."
A native of Westampton, New Jersey, Jeune's collegiate career began at Rutgers, where she played two seasons. She appeared in all 30 games as a sophomore with the Scarlet Knights, averaging 8.2 points per game. Jeune would transfer to Morehead State next, sitting out the 2017-18 season before emerging as the OVC Newcomer of the Year last season as a redshirt junior. Also an All-OVC First Team pick, she posted three double-doubles and averaged 16.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game on the year as Morehead State worked its way to the WNIT Second Round in 2019.
Jeune is one of two grad transfers joining the USC roster for 2019-20. North Carolina transfer Stephanie Watts ecently signed on with the Women of Troy, bringing USC's incoming tally of newcomers to eight. In addition to USC's three talented returners in Shalexxus Aaron, Desiree Caldwell and Kayla Overbeck, USC also has a set of six true freshmen on board in Madison Campbell (Fresno, Calif.), Angel Jackson (Richmond, Calif.), Alyson Miura (Clackamas, Ore.), Alissa Pili (Anchorage, Alaska), Endyia Rogers (Dallas, Texas) and Kyra White (San Antonio, Texas).
