Louise Hansson Wins Pac-12 Title In 200 IM, Her Third Career Conference Crown

Junior Louise Hansson won the 200y IM to become USC's second-fastest ever in the race, collecting her third career conference crown to highlight the Trojans' efforts Thursday at the 2019 Pac-12 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash.
USC is fourth after the first full night with 323 points. Stanford is in first (583.5) followed by California (455.5), Arizona State (349), USC, Arizona (320), UCLA (291), Utah (143), Washington State (135) and Oregon State (90).
Hansson, the two-time defending champion in the 100y fly who will go for three in a row on Friday, won USC's fifth Pac-12 200y IM title with a 1:52.50. The only Trojan faster in the race is USC great Katinka Hosszu, who claimed back-to-back titles in the event in 2011 and 2012. She holds the school record at 1:51.80.
Hansson, whose previous best in the race was 1:53.72, won the final by 1.81 seconds with Cal's Izzy Ivey second (1:54.31).
Junior Kirsten Vose made her third A final in the 200 IM in as many tries, finishing seventh in 1:57.00. Junior Tatum Wade clocked a PR 1:55.63 to win the B final, good for ninth overall.
Sophomore Marta Ciesla repeated as an A finalist in the 50 free and placed a career best fourth in 22.01, 0.03 off her prelim time. Freshmen Laticia Transom (22.20, PR) and Jemma Schlicht (22.67) finished second and eighth, respectively, in the B final.
Senior Victoria Toris took fifth in the 50y free C final with a 22.77, equaling the PR she set in the swim-off for the final spot in the final, when she beat senior teammate Lily Dubroff. Sophomore Caitlin Tycz was 22nd overall (22.91).
Senior Maddie Wright (4:43.28) finished 14th in the 500y free (4:43.28) while fellow senior Elizabeth Stinson was 15th (4:44.73), both in season bests.
USC's 200y free relay, in the night's final race, was disqualified with an early takeoff on the final leg.
Junior Naomi Gowlett led USC's women's divers with a 10th on 1-meter (250.50) with junior Carly Souza 11th (249.95). Senior Madi Witt was 16th (221.25).
