USC Falls to No. 4 Stanford on The Farm

Senior outside hitter Khalia Lanier recorded her 40th-career double-double in a four-set loss to the Cardinal
STANFORD, Calif. – The USC women's volleyball team (14-11, 8-7 Pac-12) dropped a four-set match (25-12, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20) to fourth-ranked Stanford (19-4, 13-2) at Maples Pavilion on Friday, Nov. 15.

- Sr. OH Khalia Lanier scored 19 kills (10e, 55att) and had 10 digs to record her 40th-career double-double (sixth of the season). Lanier also had three blocks, three assists, and a service ace for a total of 21.5 points. Her 19 kills put her at 1,899 in her career and moved her into 15th all-time in Pac-12 history.
- So. setter Raquel Lázaro had 36 assists, seven digs, and three kills.
- For the Cardinal, Kathryn Plummer led with 17 kills (6e, 41att) on .268 hitting. Madeleine Gates added 11 kills (2e, 21att) on .429 hitting. Morgan Hentz led all players with 21 digs. Jenna Gray put up a double-double with 39 assists and 12 digs.
- Stanford used a 10-1 run to close out a 25-12 win in the first set as the Cardinal collected 15 kills (2e, 28att) while hitting .464. Plummer had six of her kills in the opening frame.
- The Cardinal claimed a 25-17 win in the second set for a 2-0 lead in the match. The Trojans couldn't overcome a big Stanford block that closed the second set with a total of 9.5 blocks.
- The Trojans mounted their comeback in the third behind eight kills from Lanier. The score was tied five times, but Lanier sparked a run to close a 25-22 win for the Women of Troy. USC had 17 kills (3e, 42att) and hit .333 in the third set.
- Lanier added seven more kills in the fourth, but the Cardinal mounted a 6-1 run to claim a 20-15 lead and seized control of the frame. USC scored a 3-0 run to close within two points, but Stanford maintained an aggressive service game to sew up a 25-20 win and seal the match, 3-1.
- The Women of Troy head to the East Bay to take on No. 20 California (20-5, 10-5 Pac-12) on Sunday (Nov. 17, noon PT) at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif. The match will be shown live on Pac-12 Network Los Angeles.
- USC fell to 26-67-1 all-time against Stanford in an eighth consecutive loss to the Cardinal.
- The Trojans dropped to 41-47 all-time in the Bay Area and to 8-39 when playing at Stanford.
