The Women of Troy had three players score nine kills against the Cardinal
STANFORD, Calif. – The 13th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (10-4, 2-1 Pac-12) had its five-match winning streak snapped in a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-22, 25-15) at the hands of No. 2-ranked Stanford (12-1, 4-0) at Maples Pavilion on Friday (Sept. 28).

- Fr. Setter Raquel Lázaro recorded 27 assists and had four digs.
- Sr. libero Victoria Garrick led the team with 12 digs and had three assists.
- Three Trojans had nine kills apiece including Jr. OH Khalia Lanier, Jr. OPP Emily Baptista, and So. OH Brooke Botkin.
- For the Cardinal, Kathryn Plummer led all players with 18 kills (7e, 29att, .379). She also put up nine digs. Meghan McClure had 14 kills (1e, 21att, .619) with four blocks. Morgan Hentz led all players with 18 digs. Jenna Gray dished out 44 assists.
- The first set was tied 12 times, but Stanford used a 5-1 run to close out a 25-21 win in the opening frame. The Cardinal hit .407 and had eight blocks to hold USC to a .031 hitting percentage.
- USC led, 22-20, in the second set, but the Cardinal ran through a 5-0 spurt and broke the 11th tie to claim a 25-22 win and went up, 2-0, in the match. Stanford posted another +300 hitting set with a .306 to outpace the Trojans who hit .171.
- The third frame got out of hand early as Stanford raced out to a 10-2 lead. The Cardinal led by as many as 11 points in the final set. USC made a run of things at the end but Stanford closed out the sweep with .500 hitting in a 25-15 win.
- USC heads to the East Bay for a Sunday-matinee match-up (Sept. 30) with California (8-6, 0-3) at Haas Pavilion. The Women of Troy and the Golden Bears meet in Berkeley at 1 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on the CalBears.com Pac-12+ channel.
- USC falls to 26-64-1 all-time against Stanford and has lost five straight to the Cardinal.
- The Trojans had their season-long five-match winning streak snapped.
- Stanford was the eighth ranked opponent the Women of Troy have faced this season. The Trojans fall to 5-3 in matches against ranked foes.
- USC was swept for just the second time this season. Both sweeps were to the current No. 1-ranked team (BYU) and No. 2 Stanford. Both were road matches.
