The Women of Troy got 19 kills from Khalia Lanier and 18 from Brooke Botkin in a matinee victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns
SAN DIEGO – The 16th-ranked USC women's volleyball team (7-3) took down Louisiana (7-5) in three sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-22) in the SDSU/USD Challenge at Jenny Craig Pavilion in its morning match on Friday, Sept. 14.

- So. OH Brooke Botkin recorded her fifth double-double of the season (sixth career) with 18 kills (6e, 42att, .286) with 12 digs.
- Jr. OH Khalia Lanier led the Trojans with 21.0 points and had 19 kills (3e, 39att) with a .410 hitting percentage. She also contributed nine digs and had a pair of service aces.
- Jr. MB Jasmine Gross had six kills (1e, 14att, .357) with five digs, a block, and a pair of service aces.
- Fr. setter Raquel Lázaro dished out 45 assists (15 aps) and had 13 digs for her fourth-career double-double.
- On defense, Sr. defender Reni Meyer-Whalley dug up 10 balls and served an ace. Sr. libero Victoria Garrick had 17 digs.
- For the Ragin' Cajuns, Hali Wisnoskie and Dree'Ana Abram each scored eight kills apiece. Desiree Johnson had seven kills. Sydney Davis led Louisiana with 10 digs.
- USC fell behind by three points early in the opening set, but broke an eight-all tie to take the lead and closed with a 15-3 run for a 25-13 win. The Trojans hit .419 in the opening frame with 16 kills on 31 attacks. Botkin had seven kills to lead USC.
- The Trojans did much of the same in the second and broke a four-all tie to roll away with a 25-16 win. This time, Lanier led the Women of Troy with seven kills. The team hit .227 with another 16 kills on 44 swings.
- USC took a four-point lead at 18-14 in the third frame, but the Cajuns came back to knot the score several times including for a 12th time at 22-all. The Trojans scored the final three points to seal a 25-22 win and the sweep.
- USC returns to Jenny Craig Pavilion to face host No. 23-ranked San Diego (2-4) at 6 p.m. PT. The match will be shown live on theW.tv with links available on USCTrojans.com and will be USC's final non-conference match before Pac-12 play begins.
- USC and Louisiana met for the first time.
- The Women of Troy improved to 14-6 all-time in matches played in the city of San Diego.
