LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team fell 4-3 to Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday night despite a late charge by the Trojans.
USC scored twice in the eighth and had two runners on in the ninth, but couldn't complete the comeback. The Trojans fall to 25-26 with the loss and Cal State Fullerton moves to 30-22.
USC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Blake Sabol in the second inning, but left the bases loaded in the frame. The Titans would tie the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Hank LoForte. Cal State Fullerton then scored three runs in the seventh on a single, triple and fielder's choice.
Tyler Pritchard would give the Trojans life in the eighth inning, singling in two runs with two outs. USC then got singles from Chase Bushor and Lars Nootbaar in the ninth, but both runners were stranded to end the game.
