Four Trojans Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region Honors

LOS ANGELES – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its Rawlings All-Region teams this week and four USC baseball players garnered West Region recognition.
Mason Edward and Augie Lopez were named to the All-West Region first team, and Grant Govel and Jack Basseer were named to the second team.
Mason Edwards – All-West Region first team
Edwards has been one of the top pitchers in the country all season long, compiling an 8-0 record with a 2.07 ERA and 169 strikeouts in 95.2 innings pitched. Both his strikeout total and 15.9 K's/9 lead the nation, while his 5.08 hits/9 are second in the NCAA and his 2.07 ERA is fifth.
The junior lefty's 169 strikeouts are the fourth most in a single season by a USC pitcher, and the most since Mark Prior set the program record in 2001. His 113 strikeouts in conference play were a Big Ten record. Edwards is a finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year award and is a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes award.
Augie Lopez – All-West Region first team
Lopez was USC's top power bat all season long, finishing the 2026 campaign with 19 homers and a slash line of .278/.364/.590. The sophomore DH drove in the second most runs on the team with 57 RBI while also scoring 50. With 14 doubles to go along with his 19 homers, Lopez had the second most total bases on the team with 134.
Lopez's 19 homers tied him with Mark McGwire for the seventh most in a single season by a USC hitter and were the most long balls by a Trojan since Ricky Oropesa hit 20 in 2010.
Grant Govel - All-West Region second team
Govel has been a second ace for the Trojan pitching all season long, posting a 10-3 record with a 2.87 ERA in 103.1 innings pitched. The sophomore righty had 99 strikeouts to just 16 walks this year, with his 6.19 strikeout-to-walk ratio leading the Big Ten and sitting 15th in the nation. Govel's 0.90 WHIP was first in the NCAA this year.
Govel has earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors three times and was named to the midseason watch lists for the Golden Spikes and National Pitcher of the Year awards.
Jack Basseer - All-West Region second team
Basseer has established himself as one of USC's top hitter this season, posting a .324 batting average with 42 RBI and 44 runs scored. The senior outfielder posted 10 home runs, two triples and 15 doubles this season, leading USC with an 1.028 OPS. Basseer was named the Big Ten Player of the Week after hitting .614 with three homers in a sweep of Nevada.
