June 10, 2026 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – The NCBWA announced its All-America teams on Wednesday (June 10) and USC baseball's Mason Edwards and Grant Govel each earned recognition.
Edwards garnered first-team honors, while Govel was named to the second team. Edwards is the first Trojans since Garrett Stubbs in 2015 to be named a First-Team All-American.
Mason Edwards – All-America first team
Edwards has been one of the top pitchers in the country all season long, compiling an 8-0 record with a 2.07 ERA and 169 strikeouts in 95.2 innings pitched. Both his strikeout total and 15.9 K's/9 lead the nation, while his 5.08 hits/9 are second in the NCAA and his 2.07 ERA is fifth.
The junior lefty's 169 strikeouts are the fourth most in a single season by a USC pitcher, and the most since Mark Prior set the program record in 2001. His 113 strikeouts in conference play were a Big Ten record. Edwards is a finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year award and is a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes award. He was also named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region first team.
Grant Govel – All-America second team
Govel has been a second ace for the Trojan pitching all season long, posting a 10-3 record with a 2.87 ERA in 103.1 innings pitched. The sophomore righty had 99 strikeouts to just 16 walks this year, with his 6.19 strikeout-to-walk ratio leading the Big Ten and sitting 15th in the nation. Govel's 0.90 WHIP was first in the NCAA this year.
Govel has earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors three times and was named to the midseason watch lists for the Golden Spikes and National Pitcher of the Year awards. He was also named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region second team.
