Tycs, Ciesla Win Twice To Lead Road Win At Utah

Trojans defeat the Utes, 142-120 for first conference win.
Sophomores Caitlin Tycz and Marta Ciesla won two events apiece to lead the USC women's swimming and diving team to a 142-120 road win at Utah in the first dual meet of the season on Friday (Oct. 19).
Tycz, one of many sophomores who are off to strong starts to the 2018-19 season, won the 200y fly in 1:59.63 with junior Catherine Sanchez second (2:01.79) and freshman Makenna Turner third (2:03.92). Tycz came back to win the 100y fly in 54.51.
Ciesla sprinted her way to a pair of wins, taking the 50y free in 23.42 and claiming the 100y free in 51.42, just 0.13 ahead of junior teammate Kirsten Vose (51.55).
Junior Tatum Wade got USC's first win of the day with a 1:50.52 in the 200y free, Vose also taking second in that in 1:52.07 while Maddie Meisel was third (1:53.33).
After her pair of seconds, Vose got her own win in the 200y IM, touching first in 2:04.97.
Sophomore Maggie Aroesty found the winner's circle in the 100y breast with a 1:03.41, winning by 0.05. Aroesty was also second in the 200y breast (2:17.17).
Senior Elizabeth Stinson, second in the 1000y free (10:24.88), won the 500y free today in 5:05.64.
USC closed the meet with a win in the 200y free relay as Ciesla, Wade, Sanchez and senior Lily Dubroff won in 1:34.89.
