MBB Pac-12 Media Day Wrap-Up
October 11, 2018 | Men's Basketball, USC Ripsit Blog, Features
Over the last three seasons, USC men's basketball has won 71 combined games, the most in a three-year span in program history.
But Jordan McLaughlin, Elijah Stewart and Chimezie Metu, who helped spark USC's impressive turnaround, are all off to the NBA this year, and the Trojans are looking for players to step up in 2018-19.
"We don't know who's going to be in our starting lineup yet," said Enfield. "It's a great opportunity for all the players on our roster to have an opportunity to do something."
Â
USC senior forward Bennie Boatwright and junior guard Jonah Mathews, who were recently named team captains, also sat down with Pac-12 Network to preview the upcoming season.
"Everybody on the team can score," said Mathews, who averaged 9.3 PPG last year. "I think we have one of the most talented offensive teams in the nation, from top to bottom. On defense, we need to work more. Hopefully we can become a better defensive team, which I think we can."
Â
Boatwright, who missed the end of last season with a knee injury, says he's a few weeks away from being 100 percent. In other injury news, Enfield reiterated that freshman point guard Elijah Weaver, who underwent surgery on his left ankle, will be back in action in late November.
The Trojans' season begins on Nov. 6 with a home game against Robert Morris. Click here for tickets!
