Bio
BREAKDOWN: Elijah Weaver is a 6-6, 210-pound sophomore point guard who is a strong leader, passer and defender. He also possesses the ability to create shots for his teammates and for himself.
2018-19: Weaver averaged 5.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He played in 28 games, making five starts, including the last four of the season. Weaver injured his left ankle on Aug. 23 and had surgery to repair the Peroneal Retinaculum on Aug. 30 at Cedars-Sinai performed by Dr. David Thordarson. He miss all of the preseason practices and began practicing on Nov. 8. He made his collegiate debut vs. Stetson on Nov. 14 and scored 9 points, with 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 23 minutes off the bench. He started for the first time on Nov. 25 vs. CSU Bakersfield and had 7 points and 5 assists. He scored 10 points on Dec. 7 against TCU. Missed the game on Dec. 21 with a sore left ankle. He closed out nonconference play with 13 points vs. UC Davis on Dec. 30. During shootaround on Jan. 3, he re-aggravated the ankle and missed the games vs. Cal on Jan. 3 and Stanford on Jan. 6. He played in every game the rest of the way. Weaver started and scored a season-best 17 points and added 5 assists at Utah on March 7. He made a best of two three-point baskets six times and his 22 makes from beyond the arc were fifth on the team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Weaver graduated from Rockledge High in Rockledge, Fla. in 2018. The four-star recruit was ranked No. 37 on the ESPN Top 100 list and averaged 23.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 4.3 steals as a senior. He helped lead Rockledge High to a 25-4 record and to the District 14 6A title. Rockledge lost in the second round of the Florida 6A state championships to eventual state champion Leesburg. Weaver was named the Class 6A Player of the Year. He was named MVP of Team Honor at the 2018 Allen Iverson Roundball Classic.
PERSONAL: Elijah was born on December 30, 1998 in Albany, Ga.. His parents are Taucia Brown and Maurice Griffin and his siblings are Tauchon and Monesha Griffin. He likes scary movies and lists Transformers as his favorite movie. His favorite musical artist is Young Thug. He lists his favorite foods as hot wings and pancakes. One day would like to travel to Bora Bora. Weaver is a Communication major at USC.
