Sokol Arena on Saturday, Sept. 2. The Women of Troy went 1-2 overall at the tournament.
Â
Sophomore outside hitter Khalia Lanier paced the Trojan attack with 15 kills (5e, 42att, .238), nine digs, and two service aces. Senior opposite hitter Niki Withers added 13 kills (3e, 21att) and hit a career-high .476 to go with a solo block. Senior right-side hitter Brittany Abercrombie was the third Trojan in double-digit kills as she logged 10 (2e) on 23 swings for a .348 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Cindy Marina produced her third double-double of the season on 12 assists and 10 digs; the 20th of her career. Junior libero Victoria Garrick put up nine digs and had a career-high seven assists. The Trojans hit .246 as a team (44k, 16e, 114att).
Â
The Wildcats were led by Leah Edmond's 21-kill performance. Edmond attacked 49 times (4e) and posted a .347 hitting percentage with four service aces, five digs, and two blocks. Avery Skinner had 15 kills (5e, 29att, .345) and Gabby Curry led all players with 15 digs. Madison Lilley put up 47 assists and had 10 digs for the double-double.

None of the sets were particularly hotly contested. The Wildcats led the opening frame from wire to wire and put a quick 21-16 win in the books. The Trojans turned the tables and went on a pair of long runs to complete a 25-11 win in the second. Despite a couple of early ties, Kentucky broke free and built insurmountable leads in each of its subsequent 25-19 wins to cap off the four-set victory.
Â
The Women of Troy return to California for the UCSB Thunderdome Classic next weekend where they will face Arkansas, Yale, and tourney-host UC Santa Barbara at the Thunderdome on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 8-9).
