USC Announces 2017-18 Men's Basketball Schedule

Exact dates for Pac-12 games to be finalized by early September
LOS ANGELES – Home games against Texas A&M and Ivy League champion Princeton, road games at 2017 NCAA Tournament teams SMU and Vanderbilt, a neutral-site game vs. perennial Big 12 power Oklahoma and the always challenging Pac-12 gauntlet of games highlight USC's 2017-18 men's basketball schedule announced today (June 29). The exact date of the Pac-12 conference games and the times and television assignments should be completed by the beginning of September.
The Trojans return their top eight scorers from a team which went 26-10 to set the school record for victories and advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they won two games before falling to No. 12 Baylor 82-78.
USC's nonconference schedule features a potential five games against conference champions, seven games against teams which made the NCAA Tournament last season and 11 games against opponents who finished .500 or better during the 2016-17 seven season. When you include the tough Pac-12 slate, which includes three teams which finished ranked in the top 10 in the country, USC will play a potential 22 games against teams which were .500 or better and 12 games against 2017 NCAA Tournament teams.
USC opens its 2017-18 season at home against CS Fullerton on Nov. 10 and North Dakota State on Nov. 13. North Dakota State finished second in the Summit League last season and has won 112 games over the last four seasons, while making the postseason in five of the last nine seasons.
The Trojans will then make a trip to Nashville, Tenn. to face 2017 NCAA Tournament team Vanderbilt on Nov. 19. The Commodores have a 207-24 record (.896) in nonconference games at home since the 1990 season.
USC will return home to face Lehigh on Nov. 22 and Texas A&M on Nov. 26. Lehigh won 20 games last season and finished second in the Patriot League and USC played at Texas A&M last season and won a close 65-63 battle.
USC will hit the road again to face the defending American Athletic conference champion SMU on Dec. 2 in Dallas, Texas. SMU was 30-5 last season, with two of its losses coming at the hands of the Trojans, including USC's 66-65 win in the NCAA Tournament on March 17.
For the second consecutive season the Trojans will be playing in the Hoophall LA tournament at the Staples Center. USC will face the Big 12's Oklahoma Sooners on Dec. 8. The young and talented Sooners finished ninth in their conference last season, but returns the majority of its team and big things are expected this season.
USC will then play home games against Santa Clara on Dec. 14, UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 17 and defending Ivy League Champion Princeton on Dec. 19, before closing the nonconference schedule at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hi. from Dec. 22-25.
The matchups for the 2017 Diamond Head Classic have not been determined as of yet, but the field includes 2017 NCAA Tournament teams USC, Miami, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico State and Princeton, as well as Akron, Davidson and Hawai'i. Including USC, six of the eight teams in the tournament won at least 20 games last season and all but host Hawai'i (14-16) finished above .500 in 2016-17.
USC will then open of the Pac-12 Conference schedule at home against Washington and Washington State the week of Dec. 27-31. It will be the only regular season meeting between the schools. USC will also face 2017 co-Pac-12 champion Arizona and Arizona State just once during the regular season, with the Trojans traveling to the desert the week of Feb. 7-11.
The first Pac-12 road trip will be to the Bay Area to face California and Stanford the week of Jan. 3-7. USC will host the same two schools the week of Jan 24-28.
USC will host Colorado and Utah at the Galen Center the week of Jan. 10-14 and play on the road at the same schools the week of Feb. 21-25.
USC plays at 2017 co-Pac-12 champion and NCAA Final Four team Oregon and Oregon State the week of Jan. 17-21, then will host the schools the week of Feb. 14-18.
The first matchup with rival UCLA will be at Pauley Pavilion the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 4 and the game against the Bruins at the Galen Center will close out the regular season the week of Feb. 28-March 3.
