Once again, San Diego waters will be filled with Women of Troy, as women's water polo players converge this week for competition at the FINA World League Super Final. Eight Trojans past and present are representing five different countries at the eight-team tournament, including three members of USC's 2010 NCAA Championship team Kami Craig (USA), Joelle Bekhazi (Canada) and Patricia Jancso (Hungary).
The United States squad boasts three USC representatives, as back-to-back Cutino Award winner Kami Craig teams back up with Erika Figge and fellow Cutino Award recipient Lauren Wenger for action with Team USA. Current USC All-American Joelle Bekhazi caps up for Canada alongside former Trojan Rosanna Tomiuk, while 2010 MPSF Newcomer of the Year Patricia Jancso is on the roster for her home country of Hungary. Rounding out the field of five nations with Trojans on the list are former USC athletes and Olympians Sofia Konoukh of Russia and Ilse van der Meijden of the Netherlands.
International action kicks off today (June 28) at the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex in San Diego, Calif. Competition will run June 28-July 3. The championship match is set for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (July 3).
USA Water Polo will be providing live streaming online for all games. Visit usawaterpolo.org for links and more information.
