THIS SEASON: Ilse Van der Meijden enters her first season at USC.
NATIONAL TEAMS: Van der Meijden won an Olympic gold medal with the Netherlands at the 2008 Olympic Games... Was the Netherlands' top goalie in Beijing and had nine saves in the gold-medal game against the USA... Named the Best Goalie at the 2007 Olympic Qualification Tournament and at the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Junior European Championships... Named to 2005 All-Star team at the Junior World Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Van der Meijden played club in the Netherlands for Zu de Vuursche and Bzc Brandenburg.
PERSONAL: Van der Meijden has not decided on a major... Parents are Evert van der Meijden and Nella Joosten... Has one sister, Desiree... Lists Dutch open water distance swimmer Maarten van der Weijden as her biggest sports hero... Has always wanted to swim with dolphins... Hopes to teach kindergarden and train dogs after graduation...
