
Trojans Move Into Second At U.S. Collegiate Championship

Steve Lim registered his second consecutive 69 and was joined at 3-under for the day by T.J. Vogel and Ramsey Sahyoun as the Trojans turned in the low round of the day and moved into second place at the U.S. College Championship at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga., on Monday (Oct. 25).
The Trojans' fired a combined 8-under 279 (the best round by six strokes) and are now 8-under for the event at 567 (288-279), 11 back of host Georgia Tech (556). Texas A&M is third (570) with UCLA fourth (573).
Lim proved steady and efficient for the second day in a row, going 1-under on the front 9 and 2-under on the back, including a birdie on 18. The junior is alone in second at 6-under 138 (69-69), six back of leader James White (132).
Vogel's second-round effort vaulted him into a tie for ninth at 1-under 143 (74-69). He opened his round with a pair of birdies and, after bogeys on 6 and 8, eagled the par 5 ninth hole for a 2-under front 9. The sophomore birdied 14 but finished with birdies on 16 and 18.
Sahyoun had his finest round at USC to move into a tie for 23rd at 2-over 146 (77-69). He was 3-under through 12 holes, bogeyed 13 and 17, and finished in style with a bogey on 18.
Kang, a freshman like Sahyoun, is tied for 14th at 1-over 145 (69-76) while sophomore Sam Smith is tied for 33rd at 4-over 148 (76-72).
The event finishes Tuesday.
